Welcome to "The Best," a new series from the people who brought you "Would You Do," "Blogger Interviews" and "What Really Grinds My Gears."
College football starts today! HOLY SHIT! OMG!!!! AGGGHHH!!!! If eight and a half months without college football hasn't got you drooling over the upcoming season, perhaps some good uniform talk will.
But rather than talk about a full uni, let's stay specific to one part: the helmet. It's the most recognizable feature of any football uniform and can make or break a team's look.
So, the best college football helmet?
Some things to consider:
-colors
-logo
-tradition/history of helmet
Here's how we'd go:
5. Alabama
4. Michigan
3. Georgia
2. Texas
1. Penn St.

4. Nebraska
5. Georgia Southern
Penn State?
Could we be more boring?
Why don't you just pick Notre Dame, Navy, Army, VMI and every other school that can't seem to afford mascot stickers for their helmets?
The best has gotta be Michigan. Copied by high school programs across the country and the Delaware Blue Hens
let's not forget though that Michigan stole that design from Princeton. Look it up.
i gotta give love to Ohio State because I think they look sweet when they're covered in merit stickers
also, even though I hate them, I think FSU has a pretty good helmet
Gotta be Notre Dame with the actual gold in the paint for the helmet.
1. Michigan
2. Grambling
3. LSU
4. Texas A&M
5. VaTech
AND I'm a Pac10 boosterino
Yea, I think Michigan's gotta be the best helmet in college ball. Notre Dame's right there and I agree that Ohio State's helmet covered in stickers looks great.
I'd agree with Penn State if they would go back to the standard grey guards, like USC has now. However, the Buckeyes have the coolest.
Our helmets are white because they represent the white flag of surrender. That's why we start off the season with games against teams like Coastal Carolina, Akron, or Florida International because we can't handle real games with real opponents.
