The English translation would be Tony Bastard


File this into the "unfortunate name" category: Meet Antonio Bastardo, a 23-year-old starting pitcher for the reigning World Champion Phillies.

He had a solid first start and followed up with a solid outing against the Dodgers Sunday night, improving to 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA.

Aw, who are we kidding?! This kid probably took more shit than you can imagine in grade school.

Not really. He's from DR...lot of little bastardos running around down there. Pretty good mob name, though.

There is also an Alberto Bastardo (no relation), also a pitcher, rolling around A-ball. Start working on the headline now.

I saw the name roll by on the bottom line before his first start and my first thought was that someone at ESPN must have been having some fun on his last day.
