Morning Headlines: Twins 6, Tigers 5 F/12
Most mornings, we'll lead off the day with some AM headlines -- but not your traditional ones. Rather we'll focus on one game or story and write headlines that are completely inconsequential and insignificant to the outcome of the game. We'll give a few examples and then you'll play in the comments. Best headline (read: the one that makes us laugh the hardest) will get a shoutout in this space the next day. We'll provide the box score for the game as that can lend itself to plenty of content. Let's have some fun. The more insignificant, the better!
Tuesday's winner: HM of Hoops and Other Pop Culture with this from the Vikings' win over the Packers: Packers kickoff coverage great, but not enough, in loss to Vikes.
[Minnesota-Detroit box score].
-Nathan carries bullpen, Twins
-Guillen's 0-3 'costly' for Detroit
-Keppel (1-1) evens record with win
Yikes. If there was one city that couldn't afford a collapse...Go easy on Detroit in the comments.
* Detroit riots put on hold until Mischief Night
ReplyDelete* Zumaya strums while Detroit burns
* Ni: Don't blame me.
-Twins beat Tigers for chance to lose to Yankees in first round
ReplyDelete-Minnesota wins, likely because of Favre
-With Tigers eliminated, Detroit to face months without media coverage, until Lions get blown out on Thanksgiving
-Rodney's record drops to 2-5 on last day of season
-Twins even record in extra inning games to 7-7 with 12 inning victory
Miguel Cabrera: So can I get drunk now?
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say a) thanks for letting me win the last contest; and b) I was at the Dome watching until the end.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a great few days for us up here in flyover land. I couldn't possibly do better than your Keppel line, so I will not enter this time. Had my father been managing the Tigers, he would have walked down to Gerald Laird after the 3-1 pitch and said "Son, do not swing the bat for the rest of the at bat".
The baseball playoffs are happening. My favorite time of year!
ReplyDeleteMetrodome to remain open through weekend
ReplyDeleteLaird goes 0-6 average drops to .225
