Blind Résumé

It's March! Fuck yeah! Hoops, baseball, NFL Draft talk...we're exiting one of the worst stages of the sports year and entering one of the best. We're finally getting into college hoops and the bubble talks; it took about a month longer than normal. Who's gonna dance? Who are the last four out?! With Selection Sunday less than a week away, it's time to start using the phrases, "Bubble Watch," "Tournament Résumé" and "Auto Bids" on a daily basis. So all this week we'll be playing Blind Résumé. We'll present two bubble teams' résumés and your job is simple: In the comments, say which team deserves to get in and which one doesn't. (If you think both are in -- or out -- suggest who you think has the better profile). You might know who these teams are, but don't spoil it for the rest of us. Since this is one of those blind item things, check back at 3 p.m. Pacific each day as we'll post the true identities in the comments.

Team A:

Record: 26-7 (15-5 conference)
RPI: 41
Strength of schedule: 106
Against RPI Top 50: 3-2
Last 10: 9-1

Team B:

Record: 20-10 (10-6 conference)
RPI: 64
Strength of schedule: 70
Against RPI Top 50: 2-5
Last 10: 8-2

Who's punching a ticket?

  1. Team A - in
    Team B - out

The only argument against A is their questionable SOS but I think they have done more than enough.

Team B hasn't done enough. They have played more tough games but they haven't won as many.

I think team A is Dayton and Team B is Auburn....I'll go with Dayton in and Auburn out

  3. I think A is in. I would like to say B is in with their Final 10 record, but I think they will be one of the final teams left out.

  4. I will take Team A for their record against the top 50. Otherwise in my mind they are pretty even...If both teams are still playing my opinion may change but right now I will take Team A

  5. I'll put both of them in. They are both peaking at the right time.

I agree, it looks like A is in, and B has a chance - it will depend on how things shake out in the conference tourneys

  7. A, I am pretty sure, is Creighton.

B must be a team from a power conference.

I will put them both out to piss off Creighton fans (if any).

kind of like them both. they're both clearly hot and from smaller conferences. maybe b is a team from a shittier major conference like the sec.

a decent win or two wouldn't hurt either team at this point, but i like how they're playing right now.

I know who Team A is and I think that one loss in their last 10 might be VERY damaging. They're going to fall directly on either side of the cutline. Either last team in or last team out. Overall resume is pretty solid, though. I think this is a team that looks better when you don't know what team it is.

Team B is probably only in the discussion because of their recenent hot streak. But this team hasn't beaten anybody! A trip to the conference tournament finals would give them a compelling argument.

  10. Nice work on our last day.

    Team A is Creighton
    Team B is Auburn

Creighton is an interesting case. They have pretty solid numbers but not many quality wins. They must be sweating like crazy this week, after losing in the MVC tourney. Teams like New Mexico, Arizona, South Carolina and Va Tech losing certainly help them, but they could really use some slip-ups by those iffy SEC teams too. They could land on either side of the cut line come Sunday.

Auburn needs to at least reach the SEC final to be a serious contender for an at-large spot. But this conference is so weak, that beating teams to get there won't really help their bad computer numbers. Might have to win the thing.

Hope you guys enjoyed bubble talk as much as we did. Selection Sunday is 48 hours away!
