It's March! Fuck yeah! Hoops, baseball, NFL Draft talk...we're exiting one of the worst stages of the sports year and entering one of the best. We're finally getting into college hoops and the bubble talks; it took about a month longer than normal. Who's gonna dance? Who are the last four out?! With Selection Sunday less than two weeks away, it's time to start using the phrases, "Bubble Watch," "Tournament Résumé" and "Auto Bids" on a daily basis. So from today until next Friday, we'll be playing Blind Résumé. We'll present two bubble teams' résumés and your job is simple: in the comments, say which team deserves to get in and which one doesn't. (If you think both are in -- or out -- suggest who you view as the better team). You might know who these teams are, but don't spoil it for the rest of us. Since this is one of those blind item things, check back at 3 p.m. Pacific each day as we'll post the true identities in the comments.Team A:

Obviously Team B is from a mid-major if not even a smaller conference...

I would punch Team B's ticket to The Dance!!!
Team A should go. Tougher schedule, 5 wins against the Top 50 compared to 0 for Team B.
ReplyDeleteYou would need to know each teams conference strenth before making the choice. Team A must not be in a good conference if they lost 2 games in it and their schedule strength is 160+, Team B has a sub 65 RPI and doesn't have a winning record vs top opponents, I think they are both out and bring in someone else inside the RPI top 65.
ReplyDeleteI'd bounce out both teams and it's a tough call on the better team.
ReplyDeleteTeam B is used to winning, whereas Team A, being in a tougher conference, don't seem to dial it all the way up for every game.
But, it makes no sense that Team B can have a RPI of 49, yet be 0-5 versus teams in the top 50. So, I pick Team A as the better squad.
Give me Team B. I'll take the hungrier mid-major over the mediocre big school anyday. Is team B South Alabama?
ReplyDeleteTeam A is in with a good conference tournament showing or if they're in the Pac-10, a win in their last two. Team B is out and bitchin about if but if you want in, beat someone good.
ReplyDeleteGive me ASU over the Hilltoppers. 4-6 in their last 10 sucks, but alot of those L's have come against good teams.

ReplyDeleteTeam B should go to the dance. Despite their 0-5 record, they are 22-6, 14-2 in the conference and won nine of 10, so they know how to finish strong.
ReplyDeleteTeam A is going to have to do something in their conference tourney -- they're not in right now, but could with a 2-3 wins down the stretch.
ReplyDeleteTeam B -- being a mid-major -- probably has to win its conference tournament or must pray for teams like Butler and Drake not to lose theirs.
Wins vs. RPI Top 50 is overrated if your conference isn't ranked very high.
